NeighborWorks Home Partners, a full-service homeownership center serving the Twin Cities metropolitan area, has announced an expanded down payment assistance program for homes in select neighborhoods in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

Community Keys Down Payment Assistance offers up to $15,000 for qualified buyers of homes to make home ownership more affordable.

“In our current real estate market, low inventory levels can push homes out of reach for many buyers,” said Beth Hyser, Chief Program Officer of NeighborWorks Home Partners. “Community Keys offers a way for buyers to increase their down payment, which can lower their total monthly payment to make homeownership more affordable.”

The neighborhoods in the program area are:

North Minneapolis: Cleveland, Folwell, Harrison, Hawthorne, Humboldt, Jordan, Lind-Bohanon, McKinley, Near North, Shingle Creek, Sumner-Glenwood Heritage Park, Victory, Webber-Camden, and Willard Hay.

St. Paul: Frogtown, North End, and Rondo (part of Summit-University).

Who qualifies?

  • Buyers must have an annual income at or below 115% of Area Median Income.
  • The amount of assistance is based on need, determined by income and the projected house payment.
  • The home must be owner-occupied, 1-4 units, and in the program service area.

Visit the program website at http://nwhomepartners.org/keys for full program guidelines and application information.

Funding for Community Keys is provided in part through a $150,000 grant from the Minnesota Housing Financing Agency.

NeighborWorks Home Partners also provides down payment assistance through additional programs for homebuyers in Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Woodbury, and Shoreview.
