New Roof, Old Friend
Nancy, a long-time Hamline-Midway resident, was in the market for some financing to make repairs to her 1920s craftsman home when an ad on Facebook caught her eye. NeighborWorks Home Partners was hosting an open house at a formerly vacant home we’d just finished renovating. Rather than call, Nancy decided she’d stop by to ask her questions in person.
As soon as she walked in the door, she saw a familiar face – but one she hadn’t seen in years! Marie, our Lending Advisor for home improvement, had been a coworker and friend of Nancy’s from over 20 years earlier. After hugs and smiles and a little time catching up, Marie and Nancy worked together to find the right home improvement program.
“It’s such a wonderful feeling to see someone after so much time apart!” said Marie. “We used to work together, but we also socialized together. Every year we had a cookie exchange, and it was always at Nancy’s house – she had the best dining room!”
Nancy’s’ beloved home was ready for some repairs. She thought NeighborWorks might have the right answers for her. Seeing Marie helped her feel at ease and that she’d made the right decision. And she said it was easy to go through the application process and get the repairs for her home.
“Marie set up an appointment right away and we found out I qualified. It wasn’t too long and all the paperwork was done and the new roof could go on,” said Nancy. “I would like to thank Marie for making this as painless as possible.”
And Marie said it was an added bonus to work on a home she was familiar with. “It gave me such warm memories of the celebrations and the love around that big dining room table.”
