Housing Project Manager

NeighborWorks Home Partners is seeking a highly motivated full-time Housing Project Manager to lead our construction-based initiatives.

Under the supervision of the Chief Program Officer, the Housing Project Manager is responsible for managing NeighborWorks Home Partners’ (NWHP) single family development process and oversight of the construction process for home improvement loan programs. Working with the NWHP staff, Board of Directors, partners, contractors and the community, this role plans and manages the construction or rehabilitation of affordable, single family housing projects. This position plays an essential role in fundraising for the housing development program and ensuring projects remain within budget and comply with funder requirements.  Additionally, the Housing Project Manager is the liaison between the NWHP customers and contractors to complete residential home improvement projects.

The Candidate:

To be amazing in this role, you are comfortable with architectural drawings and building code as well as spreadsheets and contracts. You have a passion for supporting customers through their home improvement projects as well as leading the redevelopment of a vacant land and homes. You understand deadlines and eager to solve construction challenges if they arise!


  • Customer focused, with experience in negotiation and conflict management.
  • Combination of 2-3 years education and successful experience directly relevant experience, such as housing development, project management, housing finance and/or construction management experience.
  • Experience in pro forma preparation, including expertise with financial terminology and computers, and scope of work software desirable.
  • Ability to read technical reports, basic civil/structural/soil engineering documents, construction plans and specifications; demonstrate technical knowledge of building components and their functions. Familiarity with contract documents and specifications.


  • Construction management experience involving HUD CDBG, HOME, State (Minnesota Housing Finance Agency) and Federal funds including Lead Based Paint Regulations, Green Communities, Sect. 3, Historical/Environmental Review, and Affirmative Action.
  • Experience tracking housing projects with Salesforce, Homekeeper or similar database.
  • Fluency in two or more languages (including English).
  • Passion for the mission of the organization and community revitalization.

Physical and Schedule Requirements

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends and maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to work in multiple environments (office to construction sites with exposure to dirt, dampness, construction debris, extreme temperatures, noises, construction material fumes and odors). Ability to navigate ladders and stairs.
  • Valid driver’s license and full access to a car to travel to construction sites in the Twin Cities metro area. Personal cell phone available for work use.

Salary range anticipated $57,900 – $66,600, depending on qualifications.  This is a benefits-eligible, full-time position.
